The Electoral Commission (EC) has urged political party supporters to refrain from gathering at the National Collation Centre, emphasizing that such actions are both unnecessary and illegal.
Addressing the press on Monday, December 9, 2024, a Deputy Commissioner of the Commission Samuel Tettey called on all political parties and their supporters to remain calm and patient as the final results of the 2024 general elections are being processed.
“There is no need for supporters of political parties to besiege the National Collation Centre. This is illegal and unwarranted. The National Collation Centre should only be visited by those with proper accreditation. All others are advised to watch the live declaration of the results at 4:30 PM", he noted.
The declaration of the final results will be made by the Returning Officer for the Presidential Election, Jean Mensa, who is also the Chairperson of the EC.
As the nation eagerly awaits the outcome, the EC has stressed the need for a peaceful environment, urging the public to respect the process and stay informed through official channels. The results will be broadcast live, ensuring transparency and accessibility for all Ghanaians.
Although the EC is yet to officially announce the final results, political parties are aware of the full presidential and parliamentary results based on the results they have collated.
These provisional results, show the NDC holding a convincing lead over the NPP in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
