Chairman of the Electoral Commission Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan says his outfit is set to start receiving nomination forms from various political parties from Wednesday 17 October 2012.
The filing of the nomination starts tomorrow and ends on Thursday.
The EC boss in an interview XYZ News said the EC won’t accept any nomination form today except tomorrow and Thursday.
Dr. Afari Gyan however warned that no form will be accepted after the deadline.
“Nominations begin tomorrow and Thursday, They have to bring on nomination day and if they don’t do it on that day they are out”.
Dr. Afari Gyan also explained that a careful examination of the electoral offences show that an election official, a polling agent, a party official, a candidate, a voter, or any member of the general public could commit an election offence at any time before and during voting day.
He said sanctions include a fine not exceeding 500 penalty units; or imprisonment not exceeding two years; or both fine and imprisonment; and a five year disqualification.
Dr. Afari Gyan advised electorates to read the book on electoral offenses to enable them avoid falling victims.
