Winneba(C/R), Aug. 21, GNA - The Effutu Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday elected new constituency executives to manage affairs of the party for the next two years.
Mr. Philip Kofi Taylor, a Winneba-based Building Contractor was elected Chairman at the party's constituency congress held at Winneba. He polled 28 out of the 45 votes cast to beat Mr. Alexander Afenyo Michael who had 17 votes at the elections supervised by Mr. Anthony Oppong, Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Electoral Officer. Mr. Enoch Anan was elected First Vice-Chairman, Mr. Enoch as Second Vice-Chairmen, while Mr. Andrew Ghanney retained his position as Secretary.
Mr. Edwin Boateng was elected Treasurer, Mr. Kobena Benyarko Beiden, as Organiser, Madam Grace Bonney as Women's Organiser, while Nana Gyankumah Ghartey retained his position as Youth Organiser. Mr. Kwamina Duncan, Central Region NPP Secretary swore the executives into office.
Addressing the delegates, Mr. Samuel Owusu Adjei, Member of Parliament for the area, appealed to members of the party to bury their differences, remained united and work hard to win more supporters for the party.
He said without unity the party would not be able to retain the seat and asked the members to always see themselves as one people with one destiny struggling to improve the living standards of the people, Mr. Owusu Adjei who is also Deputy Minister for Health, urged the new executives to work hard in accordance with the laid-down rules and regulations of the party.
Mr. Taylor on behalf of the executives, expressed appreciation to the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and called for cooperation among members to enable the party win the 2008 general elections.
Present were Mr. Lord Commey, National Organiser of the party and some Central Regional executives.
