Winneba(C/R), Aug.13, GNA - Thirty-two members of the Effutu Constituency branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who were expelled from the party three years ago for acts detrimental to the aims and objectives of the party have been recalled.
In addition, the court injunction on the election of representatives for 23 poling stations in the constituency has been resolved peacefully.
Members of the party who initiated legal action against the constituency executives, have agreed to withdraw the case to ensure peace, stability and effective teamwork among the rank and file of the party in the constituency.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Winneba, after the settlement, Mr. Lord Commey NPP National Organiser, said the move formed part of the party's re-organisational activities.
The National Organiser on a tour of constituencies in the Central Region together with other national and central regional executives of the party, said the tour was to re-organise, re-strategize and re-orientate all branch executives of the party. It is also to motivate local leaders, including those at polling station levels to enable them prepare adequately for the 2008 general elections.
Mr Commey said for the NPP to achieve its objectives in the next general elections, efforts should be made to settle all petty differences among various constituency leaders and their frontline officers as early as possible so that collectively they could move the party forward.
On behalf of the national leaders of the party, Mr Commey expressed appreciation to the Effutu Constituency Executives, the constituency council of elders as well as the factions involved in the two stalemates for the goodwill and respect accorded the national and regional officers who settled the impasse successfully.
However, he cautioned the 32 expelled members who had been accepted into the fold of the party not to repeat their actions that would not augur well for the unity and progress of the party.
Other national and regional NPP executives on the tour were, Mr Alex Quartey of the NPP Training Department in Accra, Mr Dankwa Smith, Central Regional Chairman of the party, Alhaji M.B. Gibrine, Central Regional Organizer and Nana Ama Abrafi, Central Regional Women's Organizer.
The team had already visited Agona-East, Agona-West, Gomao-East and Gomoa West constituencies to discuss issues pertaining to the development of the party. 13 Aug.06
