Ejisu (Ash), April 8, GNA - Records available at the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Electoral Commission office indicates that a total of 4,061 people reported that they either lost or badly-damaged their voters ID cards during the just ended nationwide replacement exercise. Mrs. Alberta Mensah Bonsu, Municipal Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that a major problem that faced her outfit during the replacement exercise was that majority of those who lost their cards could not give accurate information about the particular polling station they registered.
This, she said, made it difficult for the Commission to replace the cards for them and that it was about time that Ghanaians handled their voters ID cards with care to enable them to exercise their franchise. Mrs Bonsu announced that 3,449 people out of the total number of people who took part in the replacement exercise were resident in the area whilst the rest were non-residents. 08 April 08
