Elect leaders who have the “know-how”- Dr. Kabu Davies

Dr. Kabu Okai Davies, Conventions Peoples Party (CPP) parliamentary candidate for Korley Klotey Constituency, has advised Ghanaians to elect leaders who have the know-how, the vision and the inspiration to lead their constituencies and country.

He said the underdevelopment of the nation is mainly due to the fact that most of our leaders lack the “know- how” when it comes to the execution of their responsibilities.

Dr. Kabu Davies, who is also the Director of Creativity and Innovations at the African University College of Communications (AUCC), disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Monday.

Outlining his vision statement, he said given the availability of resources in advertising funds from the many corporations and all the governmental agencies located in the area, the constituency can be transformed into a multicultural, commercial and entertainment hub of Accra when he is elected.

Dr. Kabu said he will bring into politics, a wealth of global experiences, organisational and management skills and use all his skills as a producer, arts and entertainment executive, entrepreneur, scholar, director, poet, writer, lecturer, artist and professional experiences as an organiser of festivals, international shows, conferences, community programs and events together to bring a sense of public and national excitement to Korle Klottey.

“Korle Klottey must capitalise on its national identity as the capital constituency of Ghana to compel the government to invest into the beautification of the city, renovation of roadways and public pedestrian walk ways, tourism and public night life. This can be done by using the arts as catalyst for social, cultural and economic transformation of Accra, as the UNESCO’s cultural capital of Africa,” he said.

He said he had plans to develop his constituency into an entertainment hub of Accra for development.

Touching on education, he said Korle Klottey can boast of a host of primary, secondary, tertiary and professional institutions, among others that if synergized and harnessed strategically will serve as a means for social transformation, economic development and cultural revitalization in a knowledge-based economy.

“The level of public filth, environmental damage and waste, public squalid conditions, poor drainage systems, massive flooding, migrant manual labour issues, illiteracy of women, lack of public baths and toilet facilities for schools and families and the worsening traffic conditions speaks volumes to the collective condition of public life within the constituency,” he added.

Dr. Davies said when given the mandate, he will work in collaboration with the Chiefs in the area, Regional administrators, government and all stakeholders, to find lasting solutions to the existing problems in the constituency.

“The National Theatre – in Korley Klottey - is a national monument for performing arts and must be seen as a magnet for the attraction of national and international artistic talent, for the presentation of events that speak about the multi-cultural heritage of the country as a means to ignite a cultural renaissance in Ghana to attract international attention and create the added value to Ghana’s cultural capital and revenue as a nation,” he explained.

According to him all of these great ideas can work in concert if the constituency, regional and governmental agencies work together to harness the resources and human potential of the constituency for its development.
