The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has arrived at the constituency's collation centre.
The actor-turned-politician was received with a rousing welcome by the NDC supporters who thronged the collation centre in a video sighted by GhanaWeb.
Dumelo has been making waves on social media after results trickling in from some polling units indicate that he is ahead of the incumbent MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Ayawaso West Wuogon is one of the keenly contested parliamentary elections among all the 276 constituencies.
Counting and results declaration are underway following the closure of polls at 5 pm across most of the polling centres in the country.
The 2024 elections took place across 276 constituencies in the country, with the process being largely peaceful. Pockets of violence have, however, been recorded, with one person confirmed dead in the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region.
Meanwhile, the EC has urged Ghanaians and political parties to exercise patience as they execute their mandate to deliver a successful election.
