Elections! Bawumia, Nduom file nominations

The New Patriotic Party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, submitted the party’s nomination papers to the Electoral Commission on Wednesday afternoon.

Dr Bawumia was accompanied by the party Chairman, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey and other officials.

The NPP officials handed over the forms to EC Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan with the assurance that they were going to support it to coordinate a very successful election.

The flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom was also at the offices of the EC to present his nomination forms.

XYZ News' Michael Nsiah Okyere reported that the offices of the EC had become a beehive of activity as many political parties prepare to file nominations for their candidates.

Meanwhile, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) might lead the party to present the nomination forms on Thursday at 10 o’clock in the morning.

According to the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketsia, the president has a busy schedule and might not be able to present the form himself but the party will try to find the space in his schedule to see if he can file the nomination.

The filing of nominations across the country is expected to end on Thursday, October 18, 2012.
