The Presidential Candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, has reacted to the absence of the Electoral Commissioner at court today, October 7, 2024, when his case was called.
It would be recalled that the presidential aspirant, on the ticket of the People’s National Convention (PNC), had hinted that he was going to court over the decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to disqualify him from the 2024 presidential race.
As a result, the presidential candidate and his team headed to court for the hearing of the case after the legal break, but the Accra High Court adjourned the case.
While speaking to the media, Bernard Mornah said that the Electoral Commission refused to show up in court because they were aware they did injustice to him by disqualifying him from the race.
“Why will the EC, who has to conduct an election on 7th December, know they have processes to embark upon delay? Part of our affidavit indicates that they should not proceed to do any other processes, including ballot printing, until I’m included as a presidential candidate. So if EC is delaying, EC is trying to disorganize the elections.”.
According to Bernard Mornah, the EC wants to delay the court proceedings and blame him when the chairperson is unable to print the ballot papers on time.
Mr. Mornah further added that the judge stated that per the filing of the case, the trial judge can easily go through and pronounce judgment without necessarily listening to both counsels.
Bernard Mornah expressed excitement, saying that he is rest assured that on the 16th of October, 2024, which is the next adjourned date, he and his party may come to court to receive a judgment from the judge that his name should be included on the ballot for the 2024 elections.
