Electorate asked to reflect on MP's past performance before voting

Akwamu Kotoku (E/R), Oct. 5, GNA - The Member of Parliament (MP) for Fanteakwa, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has urged the electorate in his constituency to reflect on his track record since 1993 and vote for him to continue with the developmental agenda that he had for the people of the Constituency.

He said he came from a "poor family" and rose to become MP "by the Grace of God" and that was the reason why he always identified himself with all activities aimed at improving the conditions for the poor and the deprived in society.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said he was not rich enough to distribute money or goods to influence the electorate but he could always assure them of hard work and honest leadership.

The MP was speaking at a meeting with Dademantsemei Opinion Leaders and people in communities in and around Akwamu Kotoku in the Fanteakwa Constituency.

He said for a constituency to get all that was due it, required an eloquent representative, who understood the political terrain of the country and was respected by Ministers of State to accord him the necessary courtesies.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo called on the electorate to consider what each of the candidates contesting for their mandate had contributed to the development of the area before deciding whom to vote for.

The Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Christopher Narh noted that during the 2000 Elections, a lot of the electorate were "carried away" to vote for the promised "positive change but now they have realized that they made a mistake".

He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the 2000 elections on the votes of some members of the NDC and supporters of other minority parties, saying, "all those electorate had now changed their minds and come what may,NDC is going to win the 2004 elections".

The people complained of the poor nature of the Obuoho to Miaso road, which, they said was discouraging drivers from plying the road to enable them to get market for their produce and appealed to the MP to help find solution to it.
