Electorate in Pusiga assure CPP of parliamentary seat

Pusiga (U/E), Sept 15, GNA - The electorate in the Pusiga-Pulmakuom Constituency have pledged their unflinching support for the CPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Daniel Abugbila, as an honour for the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The people, who came out in their numbers to see the formal introduction of the candidate by the party's flag bearer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom said the gesture is to consolidate the good works of Nkrumah. According to them, but for the interventions by President Nkrumah, the area would have been added to any of the French speaking countries including Togo and Burkina Faso, thereby depriving them of the peace and tranquility the country was enjoying today. The CPP Parliamentary candidate paid tribute to Dr. Nkrumah and said his activities in the area showed glaringly that the first president was a visionary who had Ghana and its people at heart. He cited the establishment of the Pusiga Training College, the construction of roads in the area to link other parts of the country, the construction of a central market among others and said since Nkrumah's government was overthrown; the area has never seen any meaningful development.

The 36 year old pharmacist said the constituency had one of the worst road networks in the region, adding that, neither the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government nor the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) showed any serious interest in the development of the area. Mr Abugbila said when elected, he would continue with Nkrumah's vision by ensuring the creation of residential quarters to attract civil and public servants to the area. He would further ensure the establishment of an ambulance service as well as give premium to education, and also ensure that at least three people from selected communities in the area have access to tertiary education every academic year. Dr. Nduom said "some people are voted to parliament to only go there and sleep as a hobby while others only get into parliament to sign their names and bolt away".

He said he had trust in Mr Abugbila to deliver, when elected, and called on the electorate to vote for the CPP in the presidential and parliamentary elections come December 7. He commended the people of Pusiga for their support and faith in the CPP and cautioned them not to be swayed by gifts from other politicians to vote for them.

The CPP flag bearer said the party was a peaceful one and was tolerant of other people's views and therefore called on the supporters never to avenge any intolerant behaviour from other political parties. "You must stay focused in ensure that you vote massively for us to bring the CPP to power again".

He told the excited crowd that when voted into power, a CPP government would ensure that education becomes free from the basic to the second cycle levels as well as put up cluster of schools, including residential quarters for teachers and also ensure that children of school going age attend school.
