Embattled Keta MCE nominee overwhelmingly endorsed

Godwin Effah whose nomination by President Akufo-Addo as the Keta Municipal Chief Executive was met with wild protests from some residents, has been overwhelmingly confirmed by the assembly.

The embattled nominee polled 28 votes in his favour, while 2 assembly members voted against his nomination.

Speaking to the media after his confirmation, Mr Effah, indicated he would operate an all inclusive administration towards a rapid development of the municipality.

He added his administration would give prominence to the development of the various tourist sites in the municipality to accrued more revenue, to enable the assembly deliver effectively on its development mandate.

He expressed worry at the imbalance in development of the municipality and promised to ensure undeveloped areas of the municipality receive their share of projects, to enhance their livelihoods.

“Abor and some other communities in the municipality are underdeveloped, they lack roads and other social amenities. I would make sure the assembly constructs their roads, connect the communities to the national electricity grid and provide them with other amenities they lack”, he said.

He added innovative measures would be introduced to increase revenue mobilisation for the assembly.

Mr Godwin Effah was nominated for the MCE position following his predecessor Seth Yormewu’s nomination as Cheif Executive for the newly created Anloga District, which was carved out of the Keta Municipality.

Wilson Bonyedzi was also elected to occupy the position of Keta Municipal Assembly Presiding Member.
