Editor-In-Chief of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson Jnr says he won’t be surprised to see deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho emerge winner over his “boss” Asiedu Nketiah in the upcoming NDC national elections.
Mr. Ephson a pollster, believes Koku Anyidoho could cause a surprise, if he should put his campaign message well, well enough to convince delegates on how he intends to strengthen the party going into the 2020 general elections.
“If Koku does his campaign well, knowing that Asiedu Nketiah also caused the defeat of the party, Koku could win and that will be a punishment for Asiedu Nketiah”, he said.
He told Kasapa FM, the chances of Mr. Anyidoho cannot be overlooked since he has been a long serving member of the party and commands a lot of support from the teeming delegates.
“Why should I be surprised? Even in the presidential elections where some people know they won’t get the vote of anybody, they still go ahead to contest. Koku has been a long serving member of the NDC and I believe he will give Asiedu Nketiah a very, very tough race, and even if he beats him to it, I won’t be a surprise”, he said.
“Asiedu Nketiah as CEO of the party takes praise and blame for all that happens to the party, and I suspect that delegates will say based on what is going on, they need another person and on that score, Koku can win. Of course you are the CEO, the party has had a humiliating defeat and after that there has been a litany of complaints”, he added.
Koku Anyidoho, who has picked his nomination forms to contest the party’s vacant General Secretary position says he has no ulterior motive for contesting other than to serve and strengthen the structures of the umbrella family than before.
With his message, “Party First”, the former Director of Communications at the Presidency believes that it is only when the structures of the NDC are strengthened that the they could strongly bounce back to reclaim power from their political rivals, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 general elections.
He therefore wants the delegates of the NDC to massively vote him to make the dream of winning power from the NPP a reality.
“With my message as ‘Party First’, it means let’s respect the party structures first and I know we will win election 2020 hands down”, he noted.
