New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 31, GNA - Mr Kusi Aborah, the Ashanti Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has said political parties are not formed or operated on tribal lines. He told the GNA in an interview that it was unfortunate some politicians associate some political parties with certain ethnic groups. Mr Aborah appealed to Ghanaians to vote on issues and not for personalities.
He said it was unfortunate people use abusive language and make inflammatory speeches during their campaigns and that this was a recipe for conflict.
''The days when people claimed political power through the gun are gone. Therefore people should be tolerant to ensure incident-free campaign and election.''
Mr Aborah appealed to traditional rulers and assembly members to educate the people on the need to tolerate the views of their political opponents.
