New Edubiase(Ash), April 26, GNA - Mr Dominic Kwaku Yeboah, former Adansi South District Chief Executive, has called for the involvement of more women in local governance to ensure effective and efficient participation of women in decision-making at the grassroots level. He said this would ensure more women were encouraged to pursue their political aspirations to higher levels when the grassroots level served as training grounds.

Mr Yeboah made the call at a farewell reception organized by the assembly in his honour at New Edubiase.

He suggested that women should form about 30 per cent of every assembly to help maximize the benefits of local governance because women formed about 51 per cent of the Ghanaian population. The former DCE commended the few Ghanaian women who had braved the storm to be involved in politics for their heroine deeds, good works and entreated more women to avail themselves of the opportunity to contest in the forthcoming assembly elections, adding, "The district assemblies are the roots of politics in Ghana."

Mr Yeboah expressed gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor for his appointment and the opportunity to serve the people. Mr Francis Dorpenyoh, Adansi South District Chief Executive described Mr Yeboah as a very hard working person who ensured the provision of more development projects in health, communication, education and agricultural sectors.

Mr Dorpenyoh said the former DCE worked hard to promote unity, peace, stability and harmony in the area.
