The NPP members thanked Mr. Alukus for his genuine concern about the plight of party people in the constituency and pledge their unflinching support to him. According to them, the party though in a right footing still have a lot of problems, “there is much disconnect between the grassroots and the party hierarchy. Our die-hard members are becoming despair because of information flow. We will continue to work for the party in many diverse ways but information must flow”.
“We are very happy with your decision to contest Nitiwul … your decision to contest the primaries have really given us some hope, our party youth here are all inspired with that decision. We will support you”. A party elder in one of the gatherings said
“Today we are declaring our support to you unofficially but will go public and let the party know our stands”. He added
The constituency tour dubbed “Constituency connect” according to the Bimbila Parliamentary hopeful was to re-ignite ideals of the NPP and bring more hope to the party people. “I did not come here to campaign but to re-echo the party’s ideals to the NPP family in the Bimbila constituency, as a communicator of the party in the region and a member of the constituency, it is my duty to translate the party’s policies and programmes to the members of the party. Our members must be abreast with issues of government policies to enable them appreciate the level of government initiatives”. He said
Mr. Abubakari urged members of the party to continue to support the party’s ideals, “We must all be proud of the achievements of the NPP government under Nana Addo”.
He noted that the gains made by the NPP within two years in government must espouse to the grassroots, “Let’s continue to be ambassadors of our great party. We must let the Ghanaian people know our achievements and what we stood for”.
Mr. Alukus hinted that he will visit all the communities within the Bimbila constituency as part of his constituency connect project. “The idea is to bring hope to members of the party and bring the party closer to the people”. The Bimbila parliamentary hopeful before the ‘constituency connects’ tour paid homage to some prominent people in the constituency.
