The former Minister for Education in the NDC regime Ekow Spio Garbrah has called for a new cream of leadership in the party for the 2008 elections.
Mr. Garbrah made the call at a press soiree in Tamale.
He was accompanied by Kwaku Ampah, Eric Amata Kwame and Fred Agbadza all of the Spio movement for 2008.
The Spio 2008 is a movement aimed at drafting Spio Garbrah to lead the NDC in the 2008 elections.
Mr. Spio Garbrah touched on the party?s fortunes, its relationship with the media and calls on him by the Spio movement to stand as NDC flag bearer.
He criticised those who attribute the party?s defeat in the 2004 elections to the electoral commission.
He said the Electoral Commission supervised the two elections that the NDC won and wondered whether the commission was unfair to the other political parties at the same time.
Mr Spio Garbrah said what the NDC now needs is a rebounding of its image in the face of its dwindling fortunes accrued from what he termed the negative image from the court of public opinion.
This he blamed on the party?s poor relationship with the media and said as an advertiser he could reverse the trend, rebrand the party and make it more attractive to both the media and course of public opinions.
Mr. Spio Garbrah will not conceive that he will be seeking the party?s flag bearer ship and said he was consulting and reflecting over the calls by the Spio movement for him to contest on the party?s flag bearer ship.
