General Secretary for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said Ghana will be an interesting place to live under the leadership of Dr. Papa Kwasi Nduom.

The comment comes on the back of calls by the politician-cum-businessman that leaders of political parties must be held responsible for violence perpetrated by their supporters.

“We must hold the leaders of the political parties and the candidates accountable for any violent acts committed by their people, if we do that we will realize peace and stability in our elections,” the PPP founder said.

Speaking to Starr News’ Ibrahim Alhassan , General Mosquito, as Nketia is famously known, said the solution to political violence lies in the swift prosecution of perpetrators and not blaming it on their leaders.

“The nation will be an interesting place to live in under Paa Kwesi Nduom’s Presidency if that’s the way he thinks.

"That when an adult citizen commits an offence you go look for the parent and punish him and leave the person, what about people who have lost their parents?

“I don’t agree with his mode of punishment but I entirely agree with the suggestion that people who commit electoral offences ought to be punished and a citizen after 18 years ought to be held responsible for his or her own conduct. So it shouldn’t be necessarily visited on the party. I’m not sure any party leadership will order the membership to go and behave the way maybe some of them behave throughout the country, it’s not possible” he said.

Mosquito blamed the reported incidents of political violence on other factors rather than partisan politics.

“Because its power play or a game of power; at times it could be ethnic interest, it could be religious interest or it could be some local interest of a sort”.
