Nana Kofi Sebo, chief of Apewosika, a suburb of Axim in the Western Region, has predicted that whatever the odds may be, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), would be Ghana’s next president effective January 7, 2017.
According to the chief, Ghanaians everywhere are crying for Nana Addo and the NPP to take charge of national affairs to rescue the people from the current economic hardships.
“Nana Addo, I tell you that majority of Ghanaians will be happy in 2017 when the Chief Justice of this country declares you the president. I am therefore appealing to the NPP not to fail Ghanaians this time round,” Nana Kofi Sebo stressed.
He made these remarks when the NPP flagbearer visited the Evalue-Gwira constituency – perceived to be a stronghold of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) – and interacted with fisher-folks as part of his four-day tour of the region.
Prior to Nana Addo’s visit, it drizzled in the morning and the chief explained that it was a good omen, indicating that Nana Addo was the only one who could bring relief to the people.
“Today something peculiar happened. In fact, it has been a long time since it rained in this area and all this while, the people have been yearning for rains, but as you will all bear witness, it drizzled this morning as Nana was visiting and this is a good omen; he will win in this area,” the chief observed.

Nana Sebo, endorsing Nana Addo, told his subjects, “This is the third time Nana Addo is contesting. Know that first fool is not a fool; second fool is also not a fool but the third fool is a fool. A word to the wise is enough.”
He appealed to Nana Addo not to forget the fishermen at Apewosika and Axim when the people give him their mandate to become the next ruler of the country.
The secretary to the Association of Chief Fishermen in the Apewosika area, Michael Nokoe, on behalf of the fishermen, enumerated various problems confronting them and which had also contributed largely to the decline of the fishing industry.
He regretted disclosed that some fishermen continued to adopt bad practices at sea, including the use of light and chemicals for fishing, which tend to deplete the stock, and the allocation of premix fuel which according to him, was not transparent.

He also bemoaned the current escalating price of outboard motor and could not fathom why the vehicle, which was selling at GHC2,900 during President John Agyekum Kufuor’s regime, is now selling at almost GHC12,000 within a period of seven years that the NDC government took over power.
Responding to the fishermen’s concerns, Nana Akufo-Addo stressed that a government under him would consult with all stakeholders to ensure that fishermen adhere to the fishing regulations and adopt good practices during their activities.
He also promised the people of Axim that the next NPP government would construct a sea defence wall to help prevent the devastation being caused by sea waves in the area and also construct a landing beach for the fishermen.
Nana Addo could not fathom why district chief executives and other government officials should be in-charge of the distribution of premix fuel claiming, “The product is for fishermen and so Akufo-Addo’s government will make sure fishermen are in-charge of its distribution.”
The NPP leader asked Ghanaian fishermen, especially those in Nzemaland, to have faith in him and vote for him; he would turn things round for the better.
Nana Akufo-Addo and his entourage, including the Acting Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay and the parliamentary candidate for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira, had earlier paid a courtesy call on Awulae Attibrukusu, Omanhene of Lower Axim Traditional Area.
The Omanhene appealed to Nana Addo to consider the construction of a sea defence wall in the area as a priority when voted for as Ghana’s next president.
