This week, reporters caught up with the Director for External Affairs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah (popularly known as Stonash) on why there is an influx of Ghanaians abroad in the country in the last few weeks to the elections.

In a spirited response, he said that the influx of Ghanaians overseas to Ghana in the last few days to the polls stems from their conviction and support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who they see as a symbol of progress and innovation in Ghana’s political arena.

His candidacy has sparked widespread optimism, particularly for his forward-thinking vision for a prosperous Ghana, he added.

Kyeretwie-Amponsah again stated that Dr. Bawumia's track record as Vice President of Ghana is a major factor fuelling this growing endorsement from our brothers and sisters abroad.

He added that his ability to navigate complex economic challenges, champion digital transformation, and implement policies that prioritise inclusivity resonates deeply with this influential group. For many, his emphasis on leveraging technology to build a modern Ghana that embodies the promise of a future where Ghana can fully harness its potential as a leading African nation is a vision that is well received by Ghanaians abroad whose countries of residence have the benefit of these noble ideas and visions as proposed by Dr. Bawumia for Ghana.

The Director for External Affairs said the Ghanaians in the Diaspora did not only express their support through endorsements but have also contributed ideas and resources to support the Party and its flagbearer to ensure that Dr. Bawumia’s message reaches every Ghanaian.

With presence in every continent, we have had members of our Thirty (30) External Branches and their fellow Ghanaians travel far and near from their countries of residence to actively engage in on-the-ground campaigning to amplify Dr. Bawumia’s vision for Ghana, he emphasized.

Kyeretwie-Amponsah said the endorsement of Dr. Bawumia by Ghanaians in the Diaspora underscores their desire for a government that views them as partners in national development as they have long played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s socio-economic and political landscape, contributing through remittances, investments, and advocacy.

vision of a technologically advanced, inclusive, and prosperous Ghana aligns with their aspirations for a country that provides opportunities for all its citizens, both at home and abroad.

As the December 7 elections approach, the unwavering support of the Ghanaians in the Diaspora adds momentum to Dr. Bawumia’s campaign and highlights the collective hope for a brighter future that they (Ghanaians in the Diaspora) envisage under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, Kyeretwie-Amponsah said.
