Former President John Mahama says Ghanaians are looking up to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to what he termed the harsh economic conditions currently being experienced in the country.

He has thus asked the party’s delegates to give him massive endorsement in the party’s flagbearership race in December.

Mr Mahama is currently on a five-day tour of the Brong Ahafo region to meet with delegates in the constituencies as part of his campaign to lead the party into the next general elections.

He said Ghanaians expect the delegates of the NDC to choose the right who will be able to win power from the Akufo-Addo government in 2020.

The former president said after lying to win political power in 2016, the NPP government has brought untold hardship to Ghanaians, who he said, are now calling for the return of the NDC.

He said it is against this that the party should give him the nod because he has the requisite experience in governance as well as the ability to work hard to bring prosperity to all Ghanaians.

Mr Mahama told delegates at various meetings in the Pru East and West, Sene East and West, AtebubuAmantin and Nkoranza South, all in the Brong Ahafo Region, on Thursday that he is committed to unifying the NDC, strengthening its structures and working hard to return the party to power in 2020.

He appealed to all members of the NDC to unite and work with common interest and purpose, noting that disunity also took a toll on the fortunes of the party in the last elections.
