Gloria Adu-Nartey promises the people of Okere hard work

Awukugwa (E/R), Dec. 6, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Okere, Mrs Gloria Adu-Nartey had told the electorate in the Constituency that if voted into power, she would work hard to push the development of Okere faster than it had been within the last four years.

She promised to continue with the development projects embarked upon by the late Fuzzy Torbay and ensure that, all the electricity poles, which he acquired and had been lying in the villages, would be raised up and she would make the necessary contacts to get electricity extended to the remaining villages in the Constituency.

Mrs Adu-Nartey, the only female Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC in the Eastern Region, was speaking at a rally organized to round off the political campaign of the Party in the Okere Constituency at Awukugwa on Sunday.

She said when voted as an MP, she would use her MP's share of the District Assemblies' Common Fund to rehabilitate wells and boreholes in the Constituency, including those at Kwaomati and Djankwati.

Mrs Adu-Nartey said she would seek the support of the District Assembly, non-governmental organisations and individual citizens of Okere and people outside to help to provide water for communities, which lack potable water.

She promised to consult the chiefs, opinion leaders and people in the area on their needs when it came to advocating for development projects for the Constituency.

Mrs Adu-Nartey promised to fight for policies and programmes, which would promote the well being of women in the country. Mr Ben Mensah, Constituency Vice Chairman of the Party, said a vote for NDC on December 7, would be a vote for payment of affordable fees for university education.

He said leading members of the NDC government would not lead flamboyant lifestyles without considering the plight of the poor and vulnerable in the society.

The Eastern Regional Coordinator of the 31st December Women's Organisation, Ms Stella Ansah called on Ghanaians to remember where the country sank to and how the NDC government managed to reconstruct the necessary economic foundation for its recovery.

She called on the people of Okere to vote the NDC back to power and to vote for Mrs Adu-Nartey for her to champion the cause for the advancement of women in Parliament.
