Governments over the years have failed Ghanaians - Akomea

A former Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, Nana Akomea has regrettably stated that governments over the years have “failed” Ghanaians because they have led the country into some level of retrogression.

The communications director of the New Patriotic Party was celebrated for his contribution to Ghana’s democracy as a strong voice on the nation’s political scene on the Starr Chat with Bola Ray, Wednesday.

Akomea said he was particularly disappointed in the slow growth of the democratic dispensation.

“I used to think that democracy would bring a much more drastic improvement because then the leaders become directly subject of the citizenry. But not yet because there is still too much impunity within governments.”

He, however, agreed military rule is not the most preferred alternative.

“The problem with military rule is, because it is dictatorship and you know power corrupts, if your power is totally unfetted, it would go into your mind.

“What we need is a leader who can be truly committed to ensure that the society moves,” the former MP said.
