Nana Akomea has admonished the government to combat all mining activities along river bodies in Ghana.

The Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation and Deputy Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's campaign team, on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, condemned the galamsey activities, especially in areas with water bodies.

Galamsey has become a topical issue in the nation, with many Ghanaians calling on the government to curb the menace.

It has become an even more serious matter of concern following a warning by the Ghana Water Company that the country may lack adequate and good water if galamsey is not stopped.

Speaking to host Nana Yaw Kesseh, Nana Akomea appealed to the government to take necessary action, stating, "it should be possible that the government would stop the galamsey in the river bodies. Whether small-scale, whether big-scale, whether galamsey, whether legal, whether illegal; the government should stop the ones in the river bodies."
