General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said that Dr Mustapha Hamid clearly demonstrated that he was not fit for the Information Minister job.
The President of Ghana in his first reshuffle has moved Information Minister, Dr. Mustapha Hamid to the Zongo and Inner City Development Ministry and has appointed Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who was his Deputy as the substantive Information Minister.
Reacting to the reshuffle by the government, Asiedu Nketia indicated that it was evident from the onset that Mustapha Hamid was unfit for that post and should not have occupied it beyond a year.
Asiedu Nketia who is known popularly as General Mosquito indicated that during Hamid’s tenure, government’s position on big issues were never made clear because there were several people communicating when there was supposed to be a single channel of communication.
“During the tenure of Mustapha Hamid, when there was any big issue in government, we could not tell the government’s position on the issue. Several people were speaking for the government and that was a total mess. He should have gone a very long time ago. Even look at the AMERI deal, some said someone has misled the President and later they said he has not been misled,” he said in an interview on OKAY FM and monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
General Mosquito indicated that the President has done very well by changing the Information Minister but indicated that he could not tell if his replacement will be doing a great job in handling information.
