Harruna predicts victory for NDC

Wa, June 20, GNA- Mr Iddrisu Harruna, National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has predicted that the NDC will gain an outright 53 per cent of the presidential votes in the 2008 elections from the goodwill the party was now enjoying from Ghanaians. He said the party would also take nine out of the ten seats in the Upper West Region.

The NDC National Youth Organiser, who is also MP for Tamale South, was speaking on a number of issues on Radio Upper West, a local GBC FM station in Wa on Saturday.

He criticized the Kufuor administration for leaving out Upper West and Upper East regions from the beneficiaries of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA).

The MCA is a United States government facility to some selected developing countries to address the issue of poverty. The MP said he found it hard to comprehend why the two regions where nine out of every ten persons was classified as poor, earning less than one dollar a day should be left out.

He hinted that when the party returned to power it would institute an affirmative action to address poverty in the four poorest regions, the Central, Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions. The MP attributed the poor road network in the region to "government neglect".
