Hohoe, April. 29, GNA- Mr Jacob Hayibor, Member of Parliament (MP), for Hohoe-North, on Tuesday, won the constituency primaries of the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) for the 2008 general elections. He polled 117 out of 275 votes cast at the primaries held at Hohoe.
The three other contestants were Elliot Nestor Akototse, an educationist, who had 90 votes, Ms Bernice Afi Heloo, Social Worker, 64 votes and Mr Victor Condobrey, also an educationist, 4 votes. They promised to help Mr Hayibor retain the seat for the NDC. Mr Hayibor urged party supporters in the constituency to galvanize both human and material resources towards the campaign for a resounding victory.
Mr Kwesi Aboagye, NDC Volta Regional Vice-Chairman observed that government machinery was grinding to a halt because of what he called "anti-people policies". He said the NDC must work extra hard to overcome the inordinate use of incumbency by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Ms Bertha Amenuvor, NDC Deputy National Treasurer asked the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) to organize the forthcoming registration exercise transparently.
