Ho Central Constituency of NPP elects another PC

Ho, Oct 14, GNA - Another faction of the Ho Central Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday elected Mr Seth D. Kpodo, a Procurement Consultant, as its Parliamentary Candidate.

He polled 56 votes out of 88 eligible voters, who attended the meeting to beat Lt-Col Ben Atakey (rtd), who obtained 32 votes.

The Oversight Committee of the Volta Regional Executive of the NPP conducted the primary with no representation from the Electoral Commission (EC).

This brings to two, candidates elected to vie for the Constituency seat for the NPP by two different sets of delegates.

Last Tuesday another faction elected Dr John Letsa, a Medical Practitioner, as the Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency. Mr Kenwuud Nuworsu, Volta Regional Chairman of the Party, said the Party had conducted 21 primaries in the Region remaining the one for the Akan Constituency.

Mr Mohammed Adoquaye, Regional Director of the EC, told the Ghana News Agency, that it was morally and legally wrong for the EC to preside over two primaries in the same Constituency more so when the Ho High Court had given directives on the impasse between the two factions. Lt-Col Atakey pledged his financial and material support for Mr Kpodo. Present were Mr Tommy Amematekpor, a Presidential Aid and other Regional Executive Members of NPP.
