Adaklu-Helekpe(VR), May 23, GNA - Mrs Juliana Azumah-Mensah, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ho East Constituency was on Friday re-elected by popular acclamation to contest the Parliamentary seat for the Party in the December elections. She was the only candidate who filed nomination to contest the seat for the Party.

Mr Modestus Ahiable, Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC expressed concern about the low number of women in Parliament and commended people in the Constituency for giving Mrs Azumah-Mensah the opportunity to represent them again in Parliament.

He described Mrs Azumah-Mensah as hardworking and result oriented. Mr Ahiable said there were many lapses in government policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme, school feeding programme and the capitation grant and urged members and sympathizers of NDC to work hard to ensure the Party's victory in the December elections to turn the country's fortunes around.

He advised them to unite and work as a team for the NDC to form the next government.

Mr Michael Kobla Adzaxo, Ho-East Constituency Chairman of NDC called on supporters of the Party to remain committed because "good times" were near for the Party. He commended Mrs Azumah-Mensah for ensuring equitable distribution of developmental projects in the Constituency and asked supporters of the Party to work selflessly for the NDC to win both the Parliamentary and Presidential elections. Mr Adzaxo appealed to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party to provide the Constituency office with a pick-up, bicycles and motorbikes to enable them reach remotest areas. Mrs Azumah-Mensah expressed appreciation to the delegates for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to continue with the development of the area. She launched the Party's 2008 Parliamentary and Presidential Elections campaign and urged all to work hard for the NDC to win both elections in the Constituency.
