Hohoe DCE endorsed

Hohoe, June 17, GNA - The Hohoe District Assembly on Thursday, voted overwhelmingly to endorse the President's nominee, Mr John Peter Amewu as the District Chief Executive (DCE) at an emergency meeting at Hohoe. He polled 60 out of 61 votes cast, representing 98.4 per cent of the votes in the election supervised by Mr James Authur-Yeboah, Deputy Volta Regional Electoral Officer. Mr Samuel Budu, Hohoe District Magistrate administered the oath of allegiance and secrecy.

Mr Amewu noted that the success of his administration would depend on the mutual goodwill and respect from the Assembly Members and promised to serve with humility. He appealed to the people not to allow their political affiliation influence to influence their decision-making and to work harder in the spirit of peace and unity to enhance development. The DCE said the human and natural resources of the District would be repackaged for accelerated development and thanked the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him.

Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister urged the DCE and the MPs for Hohoe North and Hohoe South, Mr Jacob Charles Hayibor and Mr Joseph Amenorwode respectively to collaborate to facilitate the development of the district. He urged the assembly to device innovative measures towards revenue mobilisation, prompt release of the MPs share of the common fund and to unite the people for development.

Mr Hayibor and Mr Amenorwode pledged their unflinching support to the DCE and asked the people to bury their differences for the development of the district. They called for the equitable distribution of development projects and resources and congratulated the people for their maturity in endorsing the DCE. Present were Mr. Tommy Amematekpor, Presidential Aide and Mr. Joseph Nayan, Deputy Volta Regional Minister.
