"I Won Through Hard Work And Dedication" - MP Elect

Mrs Agnes Sonful, Member of Parliament elect for Amenfi West on Friday said her victory was through hard work and dedication of NPP members and officials.

She expressed her appreciation to all and sundry for the roles they played in making her victory and pledged to lobby the Minister of Roads to tackle the Asankrangwa roads to reduce the dust in the area and enhance the carting of large quantities of food and cash crops from the constituency.

Speaking in an interview, Mrs Sonful said her immediate priority would be to mobilise the women and engage them in income generating projects "to better their lot in society and reduce poverty among them."

Mrs Sonful called on women groups in the constituency to organise themselves and support her with projects she would initiate.

Mr Dan Botwe, General Secretary of the NPP, said the 6-0 defeat of the NDC in the by-elections demonstrated goodwill and support for the NPP. Mr Botwe said the unity of the NPP had been strengthened through the by-elections but stressed that it has also affected several training programmes they planned for their foot soldiers.

Mr Botwe intimated that the focus of the NPP is to win 104 parliamentary seats in the 2004 elections, adding, "very soon, we will put up parliamentary candidates in all areas where we have none."
