National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Kofi Adams says Mr. Ekow Spio Garbrah appears to have endorsed the candidature of former President Mahama for election 2020.

According to him, his own analysis on what transpired at last Saturday's Unity Walk in the Volta region, makes him believe that the flagbearer aspirant will support former President Mahama to contest the 2020 elections.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, Mr. Adams noted that though he cannot conclude for Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah on his decision to contest for the flagbearership of the party for the 2020 elections, he believes he will be supporting John Mahama.

"Though I cannot speak for Mr. Ekow Spio Garbrah who was part of the walk last weekend, I can deduce from his speeches that he might be throwing his support behind the former President, and I urge all other aspirants to do same," he said.

Former Trade and Industry Minister, Ekow Spio-Garbrah, who was part of last Saturday's event commended the Unity Walks of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), as one of the best ways of mobilizing supporters and preparing them to rebuild and re-organize for the 2020 general polls.

“That is the reason why I’ve congratulated Mr Kojo Bonsu and whoever else was with him who came up with the Unity Walk idea as one of the best ways, so far, of galvanizing and mobilizing the party’s members including the grassroots to wake them up from their slumber or disarray or despondency and just come out and let them feel that we are alive and by God’s grace, we may have lost elections, but life goes on and this is not the first time we’ve lost an election," Spio said.

The NDC introduced the walks after its defeat in the 2016 general elections and it is aimed at uniting the party’s rank and file across the country.

It also forms part of the party’s efforts geared towards connecting the top hierarchy to the grassroots.

Meanwhile, some critics within the NDC have labelled the Unity Walk as a clandestine move by former President John Dramani Mahama, to project himself above his competitors in the race for the flag bearer slot.
