'I have changed my mind' - Young man 'converts' after meeting Bawumia in Jirapa

A young man who managed to hug the presidential aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, could not believe the moment as he became overwhelmed with emotions.

As part of his door-to-door campaign, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who has been touring the Upper West Region for the past week, stopped to interact with the young man and some other people present.

Bawumia, who realized the eagerness of the young man to share a handshake with him, readily offered a warm hug, which made the young man quite emotional.

The vice president also took photos with the young man, who pleaded with him to allow him to capture the beautiful moment that will stay with him for life.

Having 'touched the garment' of Bawumia, the young man, per his confession, became a convert and started believing in the 'It Is Possible' campaign being prosecuted by the NPP ahead of the 2024 election.

According to the young man, he had planned to vote for a different candidate, but Dr. Bawumia's humane actions altered his mind, and he was going to vote for the NPP on December 7.

"This is my first time meeting this man, and I like you. It is possible. Today, I will sleep like I'm in Heaven. I was negative, but now it has become positive," he said.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as part of his campaign tour of Jirapa, lashed out at John Mahama over his claim that the NPP would not elect a Northerner as flagbearer.

"When I decided to contest for the flagbearership of the NPP, many people said it was not possible. They said it wouldn't happen. They said the NPP would never elect a Northerner to be the leader. But I told them if God says it is possible, it will be possible," Dr. Bawumia remarked.

"So I went for the contest, and by the grace of God, I am the leader of the NPP."

Dr. Bawumia underscored that the NPP's decision to elect him now challenges Mahama's earlier assertions.

"You will recall that some time ago, former President Mahama said that if the NPP wants the North to vote for them, they should elect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Today, the NPP has elected Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, so the North, it is now time to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia."
