I'll debate Asiedu Nketia if he talks sense – John Boadu

The Acting General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has thrown a challenge to the Chief Scribe of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to prepare himself for a debate in the coming days.

But such a contest, he noted, will only come on if Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia will make sense in his public utterances.

In his view, the NDC Chief Scribe has never made any sense in his delivery whenever he gets the opportunity to address the public, a situation he said, is making it very difficult for him (John Boadu) to debate him.

“I am telling the General Secretary of the NDC that if he says something that makes sense, I will avail myself for a debate between the two of us. So, I am waiting for him,” he noted when addressing mammoth rally at the Trade Fair Center in Accra on Sunday.

The event follows the official launch of the 2016 NPP Manifesto by which was jointly delivered by the party’s presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia at the same venue.

On September 18, 2016, Mr. Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, mocked the NPP saying Boadu who is also the National Organizer of the elephant family is politically weak to face-off with him during media engagements.

According to him, the NPP acting Chief Scribe chickens out of media banter anytime he becomes aware he’ll be battling with him (Asiedu Nketia) either on radio or Television.

John Boadu was in 2015 given additional responsibility as the acting General Secretary of the NPP, after the party suspended its elected General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong indefinitely on grounds of misconduct.

Since then, John Boadu who also doubles as the Director of Operations for the NPP election 2016 campaign team has been thick in affairs managing the party.

But speaking at the launch of the NDC 2016 Manifesto at Sunyani, General Mosquito taunted the NPP, daring John Boadu whom he describes as “pretending General Secretary to be man enough to engage him in the media.

“Tell them that I’m greatly worried that the NPP is unable to nominate a rep to engage me on live programs in the media. I’m a General Secretary, they also have a General Secretary, I don’t want to be called to debate an issue live on Television alone, when I’m called they should also call the NPP General Secretary, I hear he’s called the “pretending General Secretary. When we both meet on a program that is when all will see which of us is the champion. You don’t wait for me to comment is the media, and surface to tell lies only after I go off air, that is bad.”
