'I'm not in competition with Bawumia at all' – Alex Mould

Former CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Alex Mould, who has expressed his preparedness to be the running mate to former President John Mahama for the 2020 general elections, has said he is not in competition with Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia at all.

“If you look at my pedigree, I have run organisations. I have been at the helm of running a profitable organisation: Standard Chartered Bank is an international organisation and I definitely did a good job there, moved to the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) which was a bit more bureaucratic and I changed it into a high-performing organisation. And when I went to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), I did the same – I changed GNPC to become more of a project-led development organisation.

“So, it depends on what the role is and what skillset you bring but I don’t think I’m in competition with Bawumia at all”, he said on Monday, 18 May 2020.

According to him, “My pedigree shows that I’ve been able to manage organisation, I’ve been able to deliver high-performing organisations”.

“It’s about your ability to deliver. It’s not only about politics, it’s your ability to deliver”, adding: “If you’re talking about the economy, of course, I can deliver on the economy; if you’re talking about energy, I can deliver on energy; if you’re talking about any area – whether it’s trade, whether it’s industry, whether it’s infrastructure, [I can deliver] because I’ve worked in these areas before”.

“This is not ‘would I be able to do it?’; I’ve a pedigree that says what exactly I’ve done in the past”, he told Accra-based Joy News.
