I’m withdrawing from NPP race after long introspection - Alhaji Short

Former Upper West Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Abubakar Abdul-Rahman- Alhaji Short has officially withdrawn from the race to become National Chairman of the party.

MyNewsGH.com on Wednesday exclusively reported that the NPP Disciplinary Committee member was pulling out of the race after series of consultations and persuasions from some power blocs within the party and was expected to throw his weight behind Acting National Chairman Freddie Blay.

A statement announcing his withdrawal by his Campaign Chairman, Kwabena Marfo reads, On Thursday, 31st May 2018, I served notice of my withdrawal from the national chairmanship race of our party, the New Patriotic Party. After long introspection and consideration, I believe the interest of the party will be best served by my withdrawal.

To all my supporters and sympathizers, I want to thank you for your support. To the grassroots of our party who wished me well, thank you for your encouragement. And to all the members of my team, I thank you for your dedication. To all and sundry, I apologise for any inconvenience my decision has caused you.”

Alhaji Short was who was contesting with four others, was scheduled to be vetted on Friday, June 1, 2018 alongside Stephen Ayensu Ntim, Dr Richard Amoako Baah, David Kankam Boadu and Freddie Worsemawu Blay.

By his withdrawal, however, it is now a two-horse race between Stephen Ayesi Ntim and Freddie Worsemawu Blay.
