Head of Corporate Communications at Ghana Gas, Ernest Owusu Bempah, has cleared himself of engaging in any corrupt activity at the state-owned organization.

According to Owusu Bempah, who also doubles as a Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, he remains innocent of such allegations and can never be found culpable of engaging in corruption at Ghana Gas.

“The work I was assigned at Ghana Gas is to improve the relationship between the agency and the public, stakeholders, and all that. In my job, I work under the chief executive officer. I am not the chief executive officer of Ghana Gas, and in fact, I have no powers in Ghana Gas when it comes to taking decisions, financial management, or anything to do with the monetary affairs of Ghana Gas,” he told Kwasi Parker Wilson of Oyerepa FM in an interview.

He emphasized that as an employee of the company, he has elected to reject all forms of benefits, including allowances, per diems, and fuel coupons due to him.

“On record, God is my witness and I swear on my life, since I’ve been at Ghana Gas, I have never taken or used a government car. God is my witness; the only cars I use are the two I have. I have also never taken a fuel coupon before, and I have never taken per diem,” he said.

He emphasized that he goes as far as furnishing his own office to his taste, even though that was supposed to be taken care of by the company.

“I have never slept in a government bungalow before; I live in my own house. I have never cut any deal at Ghana Gas,” he stated.

Following the defeat of the NPP in the 2024 general elections, some youth purported to be supporters of the winning party, National Democratic Congress, besieged the premises of Ghana Gas amidst reports of Owusu Bempah being their main target, a situation that resulted in heavy security deployment to the company.
