The MP-elect for Ahanta West Constituency in the Western Region, Mavis Kuukua Bissue-Boateng, has pledged to deliver on her 2024 campaign promises.

Mavis Kuukua Bissue-Boateng alias Ahanta Broni polled 28,227 votes to beat the NPP's parliamentary candidate, Francis Eric Pobee who got 19,663 votes.

Since 2012 the NDC lost the Ahanta West parliamentary seat to the NPP, this is the first time the NDC has recaptured the seat.

The current MP for the area is Lawyer Ebenezer Kojo Kum who could not seek re-election due to health conditions.

The total valid votes cast for this year's election is 48,441 votes and the rejected ballot papers are 557 votes.

Ahanta West constituency has 181 polling stations.

Since 1992, this is the first time voters in the Ahanta West constituency have elected a woman as their MP.

Speaking after the declaration of results, Mavis Kuukua Bissue-Boateng thanked the good people of the Ahanta West constituency for voting massively for her.

"I am profoundly honoured and humbled by the trust and confidence the people of Ahanta West have placed in me by electing me as your Member of Parliament. This victory is not mine alone but a testament to the collective commitment of our constituency to progress and develop," she said.

"I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed chiefs, stakeholders, the Electoral Commission, the security services, my hardworking campaign team, the NDC party, and the entire constituency for your invaluable support throughout this journey. Your unwavering belief in me and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s vision for our nation has been instrumental in achieving this milestone", she added.

She took the opportunity to commend her main contender, Eric Pobee.

"To my opponent, Ing. Francis Eric Pobee - PowerTech, I sincerely commend you for your efforts and dedication to our democratic process. Elections are a platform to exchange ideas, and your contributions have enriched this process".

She took the opportunity to promise to create opportunities for the constituents of Ahanta West constituency.

She pledged, "As I assume this great responsibility, I pledge to deliver on every campaign promise and remain dedicated to addressing the needs of all constituents. Together, we will work to create opportunities, uplift livelihoods, and ensure sustainable development for Ahanta West."

"Thank you once again for placing your trust in me. I am committed to serving with integrity and purpose. May God bless Ahanta West and guide us toward a brighter future," she concluded.

Ahanta West is one of the swing constituencies in the Western Region.
