I salute Mahama- Rawlings

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has praised President John Mahama for being firm in his decision not to sell Merchant Bank. He said the single act of the president deserves commendation and showed some firmness on the part of leadership.

He said: “John Mahama, not too long ago blocked the attempt to sell the Merchant Bank...by some of the left over characters of the Late President.” The Former President made this known when he delivered a lecture on Wednesday, on the topic “Corruption, A Threat To Democracy and National Development”, organised by the Centre For Freedom and Accuracy (CFA).

Mr. Rawlings, however, could not hide his concern on the health and sanitation situation in Accra and called on President John Dramani Mahama to take a bold decision on it.

“In spite of the growing population of Accra, [not much have been done to balance the infrastructure deficit]....I will like to appeal to him to work on extending the military hospital to be able to take care of the numerous medical cases faced in Accra,” he said.

He called on the media to apply strict ethics in the distribution and try hard to resist influence from any third party.
