IAWPA Ghana condemns violence and conflicts at Damongo

The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) Ghana has strongly condemned the recent violence and conflicts that erupted at Damango, involving some youth in the region.

In a statement released by Dr. Samuel Ben Owusu, the United Nations Peace Ambassador and Country Director of IAWPA Ghana, the organisation expressed its deep concern over the disturbing reports of violence and conflicts at Damango.

"We are deeply troubled by the news of violence and conflicts in Damango, and we strongly condemn such acts of violence and lawlessness," said Dr. Owusu. "As a peace advocacy organization, we believe that violence and conflicts have no place in our society, and we urge all parties involved to seek peaceful and constructive means of resolving their differences," he said in a statement.

IAWPA Ghana also called on the youth involved in the violence and conflicts to cease their actions and engage in peaceful dialogue.

The organisation also urged the security agencies to take swift and decisive action to restore law and order in the region.

"We appeal to the security agencies to take all necessary measures to prevent further violence and conflicts, and to ensure that those responsible for the violence are brought to justice," Dr. Owusu added.

IAWPA Ghana also called on the government, traditional leaders, and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to work together to address the underlying causes of the violence and conflicts, and to promote peace, reconciliation, and development in the region.

"As a nation, we must work together to promote peace, stability, and development, and to ensure that our youth are empowered to become positive forces for change in our society," he said.

IAWPA Ghana added that it remains committed to promoting peace, reconciliation, and development in Ghana, and will continue to work with all stakeholders to address the root causes of violence and conflicts, and to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence in the country.
