The communication directorate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Lower West Akim Constituency together with the chiefs and elders of Osenase in the Eastern region have refuted claims by members of the Asamankese Concerned Youth Association that the NPP parliamentary candidate, Mr Charles Acheampong does not qualify to represent the party in the constituency.

According to the Asamankese Concerned Youth Association, Mr Acheampong is not a registered voter and does not hail from the constituency, thus, do not qualify to contest as an MP in the locality.

Reacting to this development at a press conference, the NPP communication officer at the Lower West Akyem Constituency, Mr Addo Kwasi Annor described the allegations as “unfounded and unwarranted”.

According to Mr Annor, the parliamentary candidate is a member of the NPP, a registered voter and a native of Osenase.

Mr Annor stated that the Parliamentary candidate has been voting in the constituency since 2012 at the Apampamu electoral area and had contributed in diverse ways towards the nurturing the party in the constituency.

He advised all party supporters, to put any ill-feeling from the primaries behind them and focus on helping the party win the main election scheduled for 7 December 2020.

Mr Acheampong won the NPP primaries to become the parliamentary candidate after beating his closest contender Sintim Aboagye Deputy CEO of the State Transport Corporation and three others.
