The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Suhuyihi has praised the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, for his decision to suspend parliamentary sessions indefinitely on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
Following escalating tensions between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and New Patriotic Party (NPP) over who to occupy the Majority side of the chamber as a result of decisions by the Speaker and the Supreme Court, the move in his view saved the situation.
The lawmaker emphasized that it was a necessary decision given the of the country before sitting on Tuesday
In an interview with MyNewsGH.com, Suhuyini emphasized the importance of effective governance.
“I must commend speaker Bagbin, he has always risen to the occasion. If you look at the mood of the country, his decision is the best for that so that we can all take a back seat and reset”
It would be recalled that On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Bagbin adjourned the House indefinitely, citing a lack of quorum as the reason for halting the session.
