The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana has described the Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP as an "Aplanke" mate who cannot touch the steering wheel to drive without the master's tutorials and DVLA approval.
According to them, a driver's mate is very obedient and assists the driver to work collectively, following the directives of his master and doing his bidding.
In a press statement dated 24th June 2024, the association also referred to President Nana Addo as an "Aplanke" who cannot teach his fellow "Aplanke" how to drive because Dr. Bawumia has not been able to name his running mate.
"It's a clear indication that the driver failed to train his mate so he can't take over the steering wheel after his master. A good driver's mate is trustworthy and will under no circumstances betray his master.
"We are certain such a mate is not qualified to handle a steering wheel or take over a driver's position; the safety of the passengers cannot be guaranteed under him. Therefore, we want to call on Ghanaians that in our line of duty as drivers, it is safer to hand over the steering wheel to an experienced spare driver than a mate who is still under training."
