Former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie a.k.a Sir John says it’s unfortunate that the late former Chairman of the party, Jake Obetsebi Lamtey did not wait to see the NPP’s victory in the upcoming November election.

“He should have waited to see Ghana flourish under a Nana Akufo Addo’s good governance beginning in 2017, so that when he dies latter he’ll have something good to tell our ancestors”.

According to Sir John, it was Jake’s dream to work to help the NPP wrestle power from the incompetent NDC government which during its reign has brought nothing but hardship on Ghanaians.

Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, an astute political strategist who led the NPP to win power from the NDC party in an election that was keenly contested, died in London on Sunday morning after a protracted sickness.

In an interview with Kasapa News, Sir John described the death of the former Chief of Staff and Tourism Minister under the erstwhile Kufour administration as a big blow to Ghana and the NPP in particular.

He said Jake’s services would have been very crucial to the NPP’s victory in the elections, adding that the party’s win will be an honour to his memory.
