The acting General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu has unreservedly condemned attacks on Mr. Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC, the outspoken Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the party.
Abronye was physically manhandled allegedly by some members of the party somewhere in Atebubu last Saturday, January 13, 2018, culminating into some injuries he sustained.
Even though the veracity of this claim is yet to be established, John Boadu posited that regardless of the perpetrators of the dastardly act, it is reprehensible and utterly condemnable without. He, therefore, charged the relevant security agencies, especially the police, to thoroughly investigate the matter with the view to identifying the culprits and bringing them to justice.
The acting chief scribe of the party stated categorically that the NPP is a law-abiding party with an unrivalled commitment to the rule of law and strong abhorrence for lawlessness and impunity. He added that the party will not shield any of its own if evidence of wrongdoing is established against them.
He, therefore, admonished the party’s rank and file especially the youth to at all times, resort to the due process of law in seeking redress and desist from indulging in any act of violence.
John Boadu made these remarks on an Accra based radio station, Oman FM on Thursday, 18th January on the station’s “Boiling Point” political talk show. He was however delighted seeing Abronye in the studio same evening.
The General Secretary also spoke extensively about the ongoing internal elections of the party where he assured all stakeholders that enough has been put in place to smoothen the process and ensure an incidence free primaries.
Finally, he reiterated his appeal to members of the party especially the prospective candidates for the various positions and their supporters to respect the rules of engagement as outlined for the love of the party.
