The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has urged former President John Dramani Mahama to accept the "debate challenge" in order to have the opportunity to expose the alleged lies of the Vice President.

According to the well-known NPP Chairman, the debate would offer a perfect platform for the former President to effectively support the claims made by him and his party that the Vice President and NPP Presidential Candidate are dishonest.

"I believe Mr. Mahama has a great chance to discredit Dr. Bawumia once and for all, and I strongly encourage him to accept the challenge without hesitation," Chairman Wontumi stated.

The NPP Regional Chairman expressed his willingness to leave the ruling party and join the opposition NDC if Former President Mahama accepts the debate challenge and successfully reveals Vice President Bawumia as a liar, as they have consistently claimed.

"I am prepared to join Mr. Mahama and the NDC if they are able to confront Dr. Bawumia and expose him as a liar. I challenge the former President to accept the challenge," Chairman Wontumi declared.

There have been widespread calls for the NDC flagbearer to accept the challenge issued by the Vice President to participate in a one-on-one debate on the economy.

Despite the opposition party rejecting the challenge and labeling it as a trap, many observers believe it would be a valuable platform to evaluate the two leading candidates as the crucial December 7, 2024 elections approach.
