Joseph Yamin, National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has refuted the allegation that he was locked up during a recent chaos orchestrated by some party members during a live press conference in Kumasi on December 6, 2024.
According to him, the chaos is an internal party matter, and he is surprised the media reported an alleged lockup by the party members.
He clarified that the press conference was necessary because they had picked up information to alert the public, which their members disrupted due to disagreement.
Addressing the media after the chaos, he stated, “What kind of mischief is that, for a media house to report that the national organizer has been locked up? Sometimes journalists should speak the truth because credibility is a must. So, what Joy FM said was misreporting.”
Meanwhile, the leader of the NDC thugs in the Ashanti region, who led a group against Joseph Yamin during a live press conference has stated that they hold no animosity against the organizer or the party.
According to him, they have realized that the party lost the 2020 elections due to numerous press conferences. Hence, they felt there were pressing issues to address and not through press conferences, leading to the decision to disrupt the program.
Speaking to the media after disrupting the press conference, he stated, “What the organizer said is true. The NDC sometimes takes things for granted, and we feel it doesn’t help. We feel we lost the 2020 elections because of a press conference.
“So, we won’t sit down and be having press conferences. That is why we got angry when we came in. We allowed the press conference to continue, but we realized it was a waste of time, so we had to stop it.
“We had to sit them down and talk because whatever plot the NPP is plotting, we have information. So, if we have information, why won’t we take measures but rather resort to a press conference?
“So, it is not like we have a problem with the National Organizer or the party because we know John Dramani Mahama will win this election.”
Ashanti is poised to deliver, do not be misled or misinformed!!!
