Accra, July 25, GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) has set Wednesday, July 28 and Thursday, July 29 as the days for filling of nominations for the Odododiodio by-election.
Mr Nat Quaye, EC District Electoral Officer, told the Ghana News Agency that nomination of candidates would take place at the Office of the Returning Officer, Ashiedu Keteke District, between 0900 hours and 1200 noon and 1400 hours and 1700 hours on each day.
Nomination forms can be obtained from the Returning Officer in Ashiedu Keteke District.
Mr Quaye explained that every candidate must be proposed and seconded by two registered voters and supported by 18 other registered voters from the Constituency. The consent of the candidate must be endorsed thereon.
He said every nomination paper must be delivered to the Returning Officer with 500,000 cedis bank draft, two clear recent postcard photographs (bust) in colour with red background. Polling day would be August 30.
The by-election has been necessitated by the death of Mr Samuel Ayikwei Mankattah, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP).
The EC District Officer said all regulations, administrative and operational modalities for conducting elections would be applied. Voting would start from 0700 hours and end at 1700 hours at all the polling stations.
