A group formed by Anthony Karbo, a former Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling itself the Dombo Advocacy Forum (DAF), a northern advocacy group affiliated to the NPP has congratulated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his sterling resilience and performance under cross-examination as the star witness in the ongoing petition filed at the Supreme Court (SC).
The Herald is informed that Mr. Karbo, purposely formed DAF to rival the likes of Danquah Institute (DI), another NPP policy think tank operated by the Akyem group in the party, with Gabby Asare Okyere Darko as its Executive Director.
DAF is a platform which believes in celebrating excellence and achievements of contemporary northerners within the NPP.
Mr. Karbo has many times been heard on radio extolling the virtues of one Dombo, who he claims is his grandfather, and had gone largely unrecognized in the NPP.
According to a statement signed by one, Prince Aminu Saana, the Information and Press Secretary of the forum, “the spirited determination of Dr. Bawumia to stand the battle of the three prominent lawyers and currently taking things easy and responding to matters calmly, gives true meaning to the forefather’s belief that Northerners as eagle have the skies as the limit, and given the opportunity we can always excel”.
The Dombo group says it has no doubt that Dr. Bawumia’s knowledge coupled with his preparedness compelled counsels for John Mahama (the first respondent) and the Electoral Commission (EC)(the second respondent) to suggest before the judges that the irregularities and violations were administrative, trans-positional and clerical errors in the general conduct of the elections.
The group expressed concerns about the attempts by some surrogates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), including its General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu-Nketia suggesting that Dr. Bawumia a staunch Muslim has committed a sin by swearing on the Holy Quran.
“It is instrumental to indicate that, Dr. Bawumia is a man of substance, with so much credibility and understanding of the teachings of the Holy Quran and does not need either Asiedu Nketia or the NDC’s advice” the statement.
The group is of the opinion that Nana Addo’s choice of Dr. Bawumia to partner him both in the 2008 and 2012 was the recognition and appreciation of his intellectual dispositions, which has been manifested in this on-going cross-examination at the court the statement added.
DAF called on the NPP fraternity, to remain calm and pray endlessly for good health and fortitude for Bawumia as he carries the stolen verdict back to the party headquarters for onward inauguration of Nana Akufo-Addo as the President of the Republic of Ghana.
Nana Addo, Dr. Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, are in the Supreme Court seeking to invalidate the declaration of John Dramani Mahama as the winner of the December 7 Presidential Election.
