Kennedy Agyapong’s utterances cost us two elections – Jake's aide

The Special Aide to Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, New Patriotic Party National Chairman, described as the “only man with balls” in the NPP by Alhaji Bature, Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, has again launched a scathing attack on the Assin Central MP, accusing him of being the main reason NPP lost the 2012 elections.

The NPP firebrand nearly faced the prospect of the gallows following his infamous 2012 ethnocentric comments deemed by some to be a declaration of war. He was alleged to have called on all Akans in Ashanti Region to beat up Gas and Ewes in the area.

Though the matter may have died down in the eyes of the public, Bryan Acheampong asserts the issue will forever be etched in the memories of the tribes mentioned in the report.

Speaking to Okay FM moments after he had described the Assin Central MP as a “church mouse”, Mr. Acheampong disclosed that Mr. Agyapong’s case was the major reason they lost the election to the NDC.

“Who said what he said didn’t affect us? He said certain things and some tribes have never forgiven us...Take a look at places where we dropped votes, and you would understand that perfectly. This same man in 2008 disrespectfully told Central regional Chiefs that he has given them money so they should vote for us. That comment affected us quite badly. He is always on a spree shouting his mouth about having done this or that for this person or group of persons...and it hurt our electoral fortunes,” Mr Acheampong said.
